Yu Yuan lives with her grandparents and six other cousins in Lixin County. She is 7 years old. Her mother passed away from HIV/AIDS two years ago. Her father is working out of town. Her grandfather is also HIV positive. She likes to play with all of her cousins.

Hao Guo is an energetic 6-year old boy. He lives with his parents and his older brother in Lixin County. His mother became infected with HIV when she received a blood transfusion from giving birth to the older son and is currently on ARVs.

Hao Guo has yet to be placed on ARV treatment. He likes to play with children in the neighborhood and gets along well with his father.
